Ilaria by LucaTedde Ilaria by LucaTedde
A week ago I finished a commissioned portrait I started at the beginning of january this year. I still call it a commission 'cause I've been asked to draw this young "special" girl, but it actually became a present since I decided not to be paid for it.

She was my colleague's girlfriend's sister.
I don't have much to say about it, except that
Sometimes Angels come on Earth to remind us what the true meaning of Love is.

WIP

My desk during the process (sneak peek)

Edit: I forgot I had a high res. scanning of the portrait so I put together some Close-Up's

Pencils on paper:
* Clutch pencils (HB and 2B)
* Black watercolor pencil
* Arches hot-press watercolor paper

Size: 26x36cm (10"x14")

Come li hai fatti?

That is the "aim" of an artistic portrait in my opinion. Thanks a lot for seeing that it's not just "photographic" :)

Wow, I absolutely love this piece! Your shading looks so soft and smooth, and perfectly blended, it's seamless! How in the world do you get it to look like that? Is it the paper?

I use brushes to blend graphite. They allow great control over the shading and delicate effects. :)

I'd give anything to be able to draw like this. This is pretty much on par with many of Shinoda's stuff (which I'm a HUGE fan of) - so take that as a compliment for sure!!!!

Smooth and overall flawless. I don't know how you drew this, but you did it somehow and it's a work of art.

I think around 45 hours distributed in some months working on it not everyday of course and not for many hours each time.
Here in my scraps you can see all the WIP's about it, as you can see it needed several steps from beginning to end :)

And here you can see some details of the portrait :)

wow, that's quite a long time, but amazing work. :clap: I was just thinking, if you make a living off these drawings, how much would you have to charge to make up for the number of hours put into it ^^

I have another job, I don't draw portraits for a living. Of course I don't think I would charge for the number of hours but for the final result people would expect from me. :)

ahh that's a good attitude =) but the feeling you get from looking at the finished result must be amazing, cause I don't draw half as well and I love the feeling of completing a piece of work hehe. I almost visited italy when I was younger, but we never ended up going for whatever reason and I only got to visit france germany and austria, can you guess where I lived? lol. I always wanted to visit rome =) the center of art and art history. I swear i will visit rome some day ^^;

There is a beautiful softness to this. It may have taken four months but it is well worth it.

As an aside, I never quite got your avatar until now that I see your signature.

Again, as ever, simply stumming work.

:lol: LOL yeah my avatar is basically composed by my initials.. I am still working on my signature on my drawings.. I think it's not arrived to its final version... Maybe I'll use just initials or LTedde with L and T drawn that way.. dunno yet..
thanks a lot for the comment :) The drawing took long but I draw just during week-end's :nod:
